Introduction

Argiano is one of the oldest wineries in Montalcino. From the time of Ancient Rome to the present day, the Argiano estate has made the history of the territory of Montalcino, becoming one of its most prestigious and traditional elements, a valuable ambassador for its wines in the world and proud to have contributed to the birth of the Brunello Consortium.
Its history goes back to the XVI century when the noble family Pecci built up this magnificent mansion starting together with the development of the winemaking.

The villa, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, oversees the Tuscan hills surprising our visitors with a breathtaking view.
Argiano’s 120-hectare estate in the southwestern corner of Montalcino sits at nearly 1,000 feet elevation in an environment perfect for wine growing and particularly suited to Sangiovese. The vineyards receive plenty of sunlight and warmth, mixed with gentle breezes off the Tyrrhenian Sea and cooling influences from the altitude. In addition, the estate lies near the shoulders of Mount Amiata, one of Tuscany’s highest peaks, which helps protected the vineyards from damaging weather.
The ideal climate creates a long growing season that allows the grapes to develop deep, full flavors while maintaining the structure. The result is ripe and well-balanced Sangiovese fruit.
The environment also allows for more natural farming, and in 2018 the estate will be designated as Certified Organic.  A recent soil mapping project has identified the numerous micro-terroirs on the estate, allowing Argiano to vinify individual lots with even more precision and to produce wines that showcase the top expression of each site.
It is here, in the estate’s historical cellar, that, since the 16th century, its wines have rested at constant temperature and humidity, away from the light and noise, bringing the quality of every single bottle produced to a level of excellence.
