Nestled in the heart of Tuscany, in the natural, artistic and Cultural Park of the Val d'Orcia and in the area producing the prized Brunello di Montalcino, Castiglion del Bosco is one of the largest private estates in Tuscany, with an area of 1800 hectares. This splendid estate, rich in memories and ennobled by over 800 years of history, was purchased in 2003 by Massimo Ferragamo, who began a long period of restoration work with the help of expert artisans and renowned artists.
In 2008, the work was complete, and the historic estate was ready to receive its eager customers. Featuring 23 exclusive suites and 9 private villas, the La Canonica cooking school, a vegetable garden with 180 varieties of vegetables and aromatic herbs, a shop selling local delicacies and all the varieties of Castiglion del Bosco wine, as well as selected Tuscan and international wines, a bar overlooking the Crete Senesi, a spa and a heated infinity pool looking over the hills of Montalcino – we could go on - Castiglion del Bosco really is the place to stay if you want to sit in the lap of luxury before you head off on a wine tour to taste the estate’s decadent produce. And, just like the sizeable plethora of facilities, there are an equally sizable plethora of wine tour options to choose from at Castiglion del Bosco. From their Classic Tour to Brunello “vertical” tastings, private wine and cheese pairing experiences to the opportunity to take a helicopter ride through the stunning Montalcino landscape, we’re pretty sure there’s something that will tickle everybody’s taste buds.
