Wine travel
Rioja
Rioja is unique in wine tourism in combining some of the world's best wines and great arcitecture. Bodegas Ysios is one of the best examples of that.
Napa Valley
Napa Valley has the most concentrated accumulation of great wineries of any place in the U.S. Visit Napa from the town of Napa north on one of the two roads that wind up and down the valley.
Colchagua
Chile is a great place for American wine tourists these days because the dollar is still strong there. It doesn’t cost a fortune to be a wine tourist in Chile, as it does in Europe these days.
Central Otago
The winery of Waitiri Creek Vineyard used to be a church. This is the view from the living room of Mt Rosa Vineyard Estate, where I stayed for a few days in Cental Otago.
Bordeaux
Bordeaux is the granddaddy of the world's wine regions. Since Roman times the Bordelais have been making wine in the rich soils of southwestern France.
Tuscany
Montalcino is one of the interesting Tuscan hill towns that are fun to walk around and also produce some great red wines. This was taken at Costello Banfi just out of town on its own hilltop.
